Speaker - Aerozone Alliance

Last Friday, our club welcomed Hrishue Mahalaha and Mary Schmidt of the Aerozone Alliance, an organization advancing economic development around Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and NASA Glenn Research Center.

The speakers highlighted Northeast Ohio’s long history of innovation and urged residents to recognize the region’s continuing economic strength. Major investments in the airport, NASA’s growing role in lunar exploration, and the area’s aerospace and advanced-manufacturing companies are creating significant opportunities for growth.

The Aerozone Alliance brings together eight municipalities, government leaders, businesses, educational institutions, NASA, and the airport to pursue a shared regional strategy. Its priorities include connecting students and job seekers with specialized training and local careers, raising the visibility of innovative companies already operating here, and attracting new businesses to sites such as Foltz Parkway.

Their central message was optimistic: Northeast Ohio has world-class institutions, skilled workers, strong infrastructure, and a substantial economy—but it succeeds best when communities collaborate. Members were encouraged to help by connecting the Alliance with students, employers, entrepreneurs, and businesses interested in expanding in the region.
