Meeting Recap

Kevin Westover gave the invocation and led the pledge.

Interact Club

Our students last week were from the Interact Club, which is the high school club associated with our Rotary Club.  They are an active group with almost 30 members in the club.  They brought along some of the blankets they made for the Altenheim, and also talked about their "Kindness Rocks" project, as well as other projects they are planning on.

New Member Bio

Pat Hayes is a lifelong Clevelander whose father emigrated from Ireland at the age of 25.  He went to St Eds high school, and University of Dayton.  He got a job at a personal finance corporation, that lasted 3 months.  From there he took a temporary position at the Small Business Administration, and 36 years later is still there.  He met his wife who is from Mentor, and moved there, then back to Strongsville.  He has two Children, a son who is in medical school in Cincinnati, and a daughter who is an actuary at Nationwide Insurance.

Chili Open

The Chili Open committee were our speakers.  We do still need plenty of volunteers to help prepare the event, in particular finding auction items, corporate sponsors, and sharing the event to get golfers registered.

If you are able to help out between now and the end of February please talk to TJ or another Chili Open committee member. Help is particularly needed with the corporate sponsor and auction committees.

In honor of the 30th anniversary tickets are $30 until January 30th, $120 a foursome until February 14th, and $50 at the door.  We are also selling VIP tickets this year for $125, with a minimum purchase of 2.  Tickets are currently on sale on the website chiliopen.com

Corporate Membership

The club will have the opportunity to vote next week on an amendment to the club bylaws in two weeks time.  The proposed amendment was read at last weeks meeting. The goal is to attract businesses who may have multiple members who want to join, but not all of whom can attend every week.  The text of the proposed amendment is below, and a flyer giving more details is at documents/en-ca/0127c06e-561e-41c0-893c-bdfb56333ae9/1

BYLAW AMENDMENT:

Corporate membership is defined as an agreement with a business, which pays for individual membership dues for two or more. The business itself cannot be a club member – ONLY individuals can be members.

Attendance – At least one representative/individual member should attend weekly meetings.

All individual members are required to go through induction process. Since all corporate members are full club members, they are entitled to all benefits of membership and are required to abide by all rules set forth in the Rotary Club of Strongsville By-Laws (e.g. running for any club office).

Company is responsible for payment of dues and fees for all active members (Rotary International dues, fees, district dues, club dues, weekly breakfasts).

Company will automatically be charged for weekly breakfasts for ONE primary member on a monthly basis.  Breakfast charges for additional corporate members and guests attending the same day will be billed to the Company on a monthly basis.  The Company has the option to designate more than one primary member, multiplying the number of weekly meals automatically billed.

Fees and dues

Initiation fee will be charged one time for each member at the same rate as regular members

Monthly dues (includes club, district and international dues) will be charged for each member at the same rate as regular members  .

Weekly meals will be billed monthly for primary members as well as any members in attendance above the number of primary members at the regular meal rate.
