Meeting Recap

Becky Piper gave the invocation and led the pledge.

Students

We had members from the cross country team visit us.  It is a young team with a lot of freshmen and sophomores on the team.  They trained to be doing their best at the state tournament, with personal records being set almost every race.  They finished second in a tough conference, eighth at the regionals, which is the toughest region in the state, and 14 at the state meet.

New Member Induction

We inducted Christine Floerke to the club.  She was introduced to the club by Dave Geier, and is a health and life coach.

New Member Bio

Becky Piper gave her new member bio.  She grew up in the cornfields of Indiana, doing errands for a nickel so she chould buy a snickers bar, and setting the record for being in the most plays.

She met Dale at Purdue University, first, when their fraternity and sorority were in a singing competition.  They worked in the cruise business for a long time.

Speaker

We had a number of speakers for Veterans Day.  Sgt Ryan Acker from the Ohio Army National Guard, who provided his perspective on Veterans Day from the oldest service, having started in 1636.

Bill Gordon, Bob Schmieler and Bruce Kahn then gave a brief personal account of their time in the services.

Dave Maloney followed with a presentation on the new military exhibit at the Strongsville Historical Society.  He is Scott's son, and was disappointed in the way that the military items were stored and displayed, and worked on giving the items, all belonging to Strongsville residents, a fitting home and displaying them in a manner befitting them.
