This is food bank Friday. The food bank currently has a special need for soup, family meals (chili, ravioli, stew) and canned fruit.
Queen of Hearts
Jerry Balints's table won the 50/50 drawing and are responsible for putting up the banners and selling tickets this week. There are 49 cards left and the Queen is worth $84.
Club Board Meeting
The club board meeting will be one week later than usual this month to allow time for the financials to be prepared after tax season. It will be on April 19th in the Senior Center. All members are welcome, and attending at least once is a requirement for new members.
District Conference
The district conference will be held April 28th and 29th at the Cleveland Marriott East. Registration is currently open at https://rotarydistrict6630.org/Page/2023-district-conference-amp-leadership-assembly. Jay Dzurilla will be attending, and all members are welcome to attend some or all of the conference. We will have a table in the House of Friendship to showcase our events. If you have materials to be shared at the table please have them to Jay by the 21st.
Youth Protection officer
As part of it's commitment to keeping young people safe the club needs a youth protection officer. This is a board level position, and responsible for being aware of the rules for dealing with youth. The primary responsibilities are being aware of the common sense rules when interacting with minors, educating the club, and making sure we are compliant. Since we are not hosting an exchange student there should not be any in depth work required.
The DECA club came to visit our club. There are 85 members of the DECA club, and they took 55 of them to the state competition in March which was held in Columbus, and the members who visited us did well enough to qualify for the national competition in Orlando this month.
Four Way Test Speech Contest
We held the four way test speech contest. We had three students who had signed up for the contest, although one of them was sick and did not make it to the competition.
The winner was eligible to attend the district competition later this month, and not being able to attend the second place finisher will represent our club at the district competition.
