Tom began by recognizing Jim Morehouse, who received the District 6630 Governor's Award for Excellence for his leadership in establishing the club's Companion Club. Tom noted that district awards are uncommon and congratulated Jim on a well-deserved honor.

Key Priorities for the Year

1. Create Lasting Impact

Inspired by Rotary International's annual theme, Tom encouraged the club to focus on projects that leave a lasting legacy rather than short-term charitable efforts.

2. Restore Safety Town

One of his primary goals is revitalizing Safety Town, describing it as one of the club's long-standing legacy projects that is in need of restoration.

3. Membership Growth and Retention

Tom thanked the outgoing membership leadership for their work and announced that Dave Shuey will chair membership, supported by Gene, Becky, and additional committee members.

Membership goals include:

• Add 19 new members during the year (surpassing the previous year's 18).
• Improve member retention.
• Continue attracting high-quality, engaged members who become active quickly.

He stressed that while some departures are unavoidable, retaining current members must become a major focus.

4. Continue Successful Programs

Tom thanked outgoing President Barry for his leadership and committed to continuing successful initiatives, particularly the club's partnership with the local city schools.

5. Member Biographies

To help members get to know one another better, Tom plans to regularly feature member biographies, especially longtime Rotarians, allowing newer members to learn about the club's history and veteran members.

6. More Off-Site Meetings

The club will continue holding meetings away from its regular venue, including:

• A visit to Polaris Career Center for a tour of new facilities.
• The annual Veterans Day meeting at the VFW.
• Additional off-site meetings based on member suggestions.

Tom encouraged everyone to propose new locations.

7. Installation Banquet Committee

Recognizing rising costs, Tom plans to establish a committee to:

• Begin planning earlier.
• Maintain a first-class event while controlling expenses.
• Continue recognizing the club's sponsors, whose support makes many Rotary programs possible.

He invited volunteers to join the committee.

8. More Club Fellowship

Working with Club Services Chair Pete Nixon, Tom hopes to expand social activities, including:

• Picnics and other informal gatherings.
• Family-friendly events involving spouses and children.
• More opportunities for members to build relationships outside regular meetings.

He emphasized that these activities help strengthen the club and introduce families to Rotary.

9. Looking Ahead to the 50th Anniversary

Members suggested beginning plans now for the club's upcoming 50th anniversary in two years. Tom agreed it would be worthwhile to start brainstorming ideas for a special celebration.
