Meeting Recap

Kevin Lynch gave the invocation and led the pledge.

New Member Bio

Faraz Shahid gave his new member bio.  He has been a resident of Strongsville since 2013, and is a first generation immigrant, arriving in the US in 2009.  He works as a captive insurance underwriter working for a Philadelphia based company.  Faraz works from his house, as they do not have an office in the area.

Faraz has a nine-year old, and is also an avid runner, having run a few half marathons.  He is also a keen tennis player and world traveler.

Rotarian of the Month

Ashley honored Jerry Balint as Rotarian of the Month for his involvement in many initiatives in the club, including helping the kids fest with sponsorship, getting the community partnership program together, and promoting Rotary within the city.

Birthdays

The first donut day was June 7th, 1938 when donut lassies served donuts to soldiers.  Our own donut lassie Michele Lynch recognized birthdays of Sean Grandage, Ray Longerich, Ashley Gay, Dave Shuey, Bob Schmieler, Bill Fiesler, Brian Krusz, Pat Hayes, Mary Kaminski, Jay Dzurilla and Sandy Croft.  In addition Rotary anniversaries of Tom Perciak (Honorary - 11 years), Joyce Reed (9 years), Dan Sage (13 years) and John Turnbull (14 years) were recognized.  Bob Schmieler won the box of donuts.

Duck Race Recap

Ravi and Bryan Chaye gave thanks to the volunteers who helped make the day a success.  The net proceeds of the event were approximately $17,000, and Pathway Caring for Children and the MetroParks are invited to receive their donations at the July 21st meeting.  This will be our next "bring a friend" meeting as it is a good showcase of what our club does for prospective members.  Ravi and Bryan have already signed up as co-chairs for the 2024 event which will be on June 1st, 2024.

StrongFest Committee

The StrongFest Committee will be meeting after the meeting Friday at the Senior Center.

VFW Golf Outing

The VFW Golf Outing will be August 11th, that the club will be sponsoring.  Jim Karecki has forms if you want to golf.  Please let John know if you will be golfing on the 11th as it does conflict with our Friday meeting, so we can adjust the food appropriately.

End Polio Now Baseball Game

Districts 6630, 6650 and 6600 have organized a baseball game to benefit End Polio Now on August 17th against the Tigers.  There are a variety of ticket options available that you can order online.  Also talk to Bruce Kahn about tickets to win the chance to throw out the first pitch at a future game.
