Queen of Hearts

Barry Kuzmickas's table won the The Queen of Hearts drawing, and drew the Queen.  They are responsible for putting up the banners and selling tickets this week.  There will be a new deck.

Grant Management Seminars

Do be eligible for matching grants from the Rotary District or International we need two people to attend a grant management seminar.  Scott Maloney will be attending.  The closest location will be 6pm on March 1st at the Middleburg Height Public Library.  If you are able to attend please reach out.

Kids Fest / Duck Race Committee

The Chalet is reserved for June 4th.  Rick Weiser is looking for a co-chair for the event this year.  This person will be working with Rick throughout the planning process, ready to chair meetings if Rick is unavailable, and be the point person the day of the event.  Please reach out to Rick if you are interested.

Blood Drive

Meeting Recap

New Member Inductions

We welcomed three members to the club.  Two new members, Barry Kuzmickas and Nathan Romeo, and one returning member, Tom Gigliotti.

High School Students

This week the DECA program came to visit.  DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.  The students will be competing in the state-wide competition in Columbus, and hope to advance to national competitions.  Some of the competitions are individual, and some are team based.

Speaker

Our speaker was Brent Painter, who gave us an overview of the Strongsville town center enhancement and walkability initiative, which as goals to improve the connectivity and walkabilitity within the Strongsville town center area, and to construct new amenities in that area to improve the quality of life for residents.
 
Our club has already been involved with funding and building the Backyard Preserve, Safety Town and the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank.  In addition the club has obtained a matching grant from our district for improvements on the Freedom Trail.
Stories
Strongsville Rotary Foundation Scholarships
The Strongsville Rotary Foundation will award several college scholarships to high school seniors who live in Strongsville. One is reserved for a parochial student and one is reserved for a Polaris student. In addition, scholarships of various amounts will be awarded to students in the Connections Program,

Applications are available in the High School Guidance office or download the Scholarship Application form here.

Applications must be RECEIVED by Rotary by Wednesday, April 5 2022 to be considered. Mailing instructions are on the applications.
