Ashley inducted three new members Friday, Dustin Passalacqua sponsored by Bill DeMarco, Jim Morehouse sponsored by Ashley Gay and Pat Hayes sponsored by Ravi Velu.
Member Recognition
Ashley recognized Kevin Lynch, Rick Voigt, Brad Nudell and Rick Weiser for their assistance transitioning new chairs for the Chili Open and Kids Fest/Duck race. In addition Dan Cricks was recognized as Rotarian of the Month helping raise the visibility of the club with PR efforts with The Post, and bringing in new members.
Paul Harris Fellows
Kip presented four new Paul Harris Fellows with the emblems of their achievement in the form of a pin and certificate. The new members are Pat Greco, Tom Laub, Scott Maloney and Ravi Velu. In addition several members were recognized for achieving higher levels of donation the The Rotary Foundation.
We now have 294 members of the club who have become Paul Harris Fellows with donations of at least $1,000 to the Foundation, either through their own contribution, or through club service awards. There are an additional 20 sustaining members working towards their PHF. Members of our club have donated $505,000 to The Rotary Foundation over time.
Rotary Moment
George Tomko shared a video from one of the events the club hosted in the past. In this case it was a DARE run, from 1992-3, which was a 5K run, that started and ended at the water tower, and included a loop through Ledgewood, with the hill on Falling Water adding to the challenge.
Speaker
Our speaker was Linda Whapham or AARP Tax-Aide. AARP Tax-Aide is a volunteer program that provides free tax preparation services to anyone who needs it. Most of their clients are over 55, retired, and low or moderate income.
Funded by grants from the IRS and AARP foundation they have prepared over 68 million returns in their 54 year history.
They are looking for volunteers, who will receive training, who want to help seniors and others file their taxes.
Ken Dooner's table won the drawing. The Queen of Hearts is worth $185 and there are 46 cards left. They are responsible for putting up the banners and selling tickets next week. There will be no drawing this week as we are off-site..png)
