Meeting Recap
Bruce Keenen gave the invocation and led the pledge.
Pass The Hat
The parent of a local high school student contacted us. Her daughter will be a Junior in the fall, attending Polaris in the Criminal Justice program. She had been referred by the Cuyahoga County Rape Crisis Center to a couple of other organizations to help pay for the uniforms she will need for the program. Thanks to the club members we raised $366 and the board approved $204 to cover the $570 costs.
Foundation Board Meeting
Bill DeMarco gave a report after the Foundation Board Meeting. Bill had attended the Senior Salute to pass out the scholarships. The foundation funded a total of 13 scholarships for $21,000. The foundation also approved a donation of $2,100 to Camp Cheerful to help replace the ADA compliant picnic tables that were wearing out as well as a donation to the Southwest General Community Foundation.
Kids Fest / Duck Race
Volunteers needed. The signup sheet will be at the meeting, or you can go online and signup. There are still plenty of opportunities.
Duck Sales are open at the website:
https://strongsvilleduckrace.com. We are also doing the group sales from non-profit groups. If you know of any group that would be interested in participating have them contact Kris Heinrich. The non-profit keeps 50% of their sales.
Speaker
The officers from the Interact Club from the high school came to visit. Both the current officers, and the officers for the upcoming year were present. Some of their favorite activities for the year were the events with the exchange students, including the toboggan rides and Cavs games, making blankets for the Altenheim, and attending the district Interact meeting Interactors from other schools in the district. They also enjoyed volunteering at the Chili Open, and will be volunteering at the duck race. One of the students will be attending RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), an intensive 5-day leadership camp held at BW in early June. She will return later in June to discuss her experience there.
