How to join the Rotary Club of Strongsville

Membership is by invitation. Members are chosen to represent their respective business or profession. The "Classification Principle" insures that membership includes a qualified representative of each worthy business and profession in the community. In this way, our club becomes a cross-section of the community.

Our initiation fee is $100 and monthly dues are $60. Dues include a subscription to the Rotarian, the magazine of Rotary International, weekly breakfasts and our annual installation banquet.

What is expected of a Rotary member?

Rotary is built upon fellowship and friendship that comes from active participation and attendance at meetings.

A Rotarian is expected to attend weekly meetings. Each member must attend 60 percent of all regular meetings during the year, unless exempted for good reason by the club's board of directors. It is understood that busy people may have conflicts from time to time that prohibit their attendance at meetings.

A member who misses a meeting may "make-up" at one of the more than 35,000 Rotary clubs worldwide. Meeting make-ups give a Rotarian a chance to meet new friends, learn of different cultures and to bring back to their home club a wealth of information and ideas that can broaden the Rotary experience.

Paul Harris Fellowship (Rotary International)

Anybody who contributes $1,000 or more to the Rotary International Annual Programs Fund, or has that amount contributed in their name, may become a Paul Harris Fellow. Each new Paul Harris Fellow receives a commemorative certificate, a pin, and a medallion. For gifts of $2,000 or more, a Paul Harris Fellow is eligible for recognition as a multiple Paul Harris Fellow or may honor somebody else as a Paul Harris Fellow with their foundation recognition points.

Harry Fuehrer Fellowship (Strongsville Rotary)

Harry Fuehrer was the charter president of the Rotary Club of Strongsville and was one of only two men who had been in Rotary when our club was chartered. Harry truly embodied our motto of Service Above Self. He united our new club into a tight knit group, helped to develop our lasting relationship with Camp Cheerful and worked extremely well with the district and Rotary International for the benefit of our club.

After his premature passing, the Harry Fuehrer Fellowship was created in his honor.

To become a Harry Fuehrer Fellow, you must first be a Paul Harris Fellow. A donation of $500, either donated personally, by the club, or a combination of both, is required.
